My sons Charles and Brown have been fishing with me offshore for three years now. Because they are young, most of their angling has been from the chair. Brown this past year has fought me on this and wants to catch them standing up. The problem with this is that most all tackle you find are made for adults. The measurement of the butt(even on most stand ups) is generally to long and puts a young
angler at an uncomfortable disadvantage. Not to mention that our dink reels are huge in an 8 year olds hands. We had a chance to fish with David Salazar on the Finest Kind during the boys spring break and he had the answer. He had two set ups with kids Crowder 4’6″ stand ups with small Avet reels( which were perfect for their small hands). With calm seas,Brown rallied to the challenge catching all of his fish standing up. Charles caught some , but still prefers the chair. We have a set of these rods on the way as well as some 12 Talicas.
