We had a great week at the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament coming in 1st Place !!. We started off releasing two sails on the first day missed a blue and couple of other bills. Day two was beautiful, we ran offshore of the Norfolk canyon. We set out four dinks and a short shotgun lure. As I was watching the spread a xl blue launched (whole body out of the water)where my right short would be and and landed on the short shotgun. It was the most unbelievable bite I have ever seen and will probably ever see.We cleared our stuff, got the gaffs out and started to back down. However my angler Craig couldn’t reel fast enough even bumping in and out of reverse.I looked out and the fish was just swimming 100ft out. Colin pulled the fish within gaff range .Brad and Josh sunk the fliers and the fish start slowly thrashing. I’m guessing at this point its 5-10 min since we hooked the fish. At that time the fish went ape shit water flying .After a while the fish calmed and we were able to pull the fish into the boat. Later in the day we missed a white and had another small blue on the teaser which we missed and then pulled off on the short shot gun. I would like to thank my group for having faith in me to give me a chance to fish them again in the tournament. Thanks again Bill,Brad,Keith,Steve,Nick, Josh,Craig and Bailey and of course Colin who had his shit right when it need to be(nice job !).It’s been a hell of a week!
